MUSIC CONNECTS needed an appealing and user-friendly website to effectively communicate their mission of musical support for young refugees to the outside world and to address different target groups. despite limited resources, the new website had to be professional and emotionally appealing, and at the same time easy to maintain.
Solution
In close collaboration with MUSIC CONNECTS, we developed a new website and project landing pages that enable a clear, emotional approach. With an intuitive interface design and user-friendly information architecture, the site appeals specifically to both refugees and supporters. Thanks to the use of Squarespace with customised adaptations, the site remains easy to maintain and flexible.
Sharing music and spreading hope
We quickly became aware of MUSIC CONNECTS' goals and visions in a joint strategy meeting with the organisation. In the subsequent UX workshop, we used this as the basis for designing a clear information architecture for the website that would appeal to the various target groups (interested parties, NGOs, partners, etc.) in a user-friendly way. Paired with an emotional interface design, the new website now gives MUSIC CONNECTS a clear voice to the outside world.
Strong contrasts in the UI complement the moving images from the projects and the emotional testimonials. They allow the user to feel the clear mission behind MUSIC CONNECTS and immerse themselves in its world.
A world in which cultural development opportunities cannot be taken for granted and are something very special. A world that can suddenly become colourful and hopeful through making music together.
In addition to the association's website, we also created the concept for individual project pages. These are separate from the association's website and are intended as independent landing pages focussing on the content of the individual social projects. In this way, they appeal directly to refugees and potential supporters in the respective host country and invite them to experience, learn and participate in music.
Lots of content management, little code
Despite the small-scale realisation, the website should of course be maintainable for the editors. We decided against an elaborate in-house development and built the modules in Squarespace's modular system. Individual components and design elements that could not be mapped by the Squarespace standard (such as bilingualism) were added with the help of user-defined code.
