Merry Christmas!
Summary
At an internal workshop this summer, one of the things we discussed was that we would like to become more socially involved. For many of us, this has long been a topic that is clearly neglected - partly because it unfortunately gets lost in everyday life. In order to change this, we compiled, researched and validated a wide range of measures and ideas - after all, there is a huge choice. Of course, we have also critically scrutinised what we are talking about. Unfortunately, it often has an overtone when companies talk about their social campaigns. However, it is precisely this communication of so-called ‘good deeds’ that is important because it also offers associations and organisations a certain platform and reach. At best, you can be a role model for others or at least give them food for thought. Either way - in the end it's about doing something meaningful and good, for what reason exactly is almost secondary.
So we discussed the various options together and agreed on which opportunities for social engagement we wanted to see and pursue in our day-to-day work. This resulted in a dedicated workforce on the topic of ‘social impact @ Format D’, which can drive, initiate and implement things independently with its own budget as part of our shared leadership concept.
Said and done - and by the way, the question of Christmas presents was also resolved. Instead of sending classic material gifts, we donated to two charity organisations this year, which we would like to briefly introduce here.
Which Charity suits you? Maybe you'll soon stumble across your heart project that you can support!
This heart-warming campaign by Samaritan's Purse, aims to give children in difficult life situations a merry Christmas. Every year, lovingly packed shoeboxes full of presents are distributed to children in need all around the world - a campaign that was launched back in 1993. We love the idea of making such a big difference with a small gesture and have therefore decided to take part.
And this is how it goes:
Firstly, we looked at the packing lists and organised gifts of all kinds. The boxes are put together for children of different age groups to make sure that the child receiving the gift can do something with the items. What was in all of them: toothbrushes and toothpaste, colouring pencils and paper. Things that should actually be taken for granted. In addition, each child receives a so-called wow gift, such as a cuddly toy or other highlight. We took an evening as a team to wrap the presents and packed one box each. To get into the Christmas spirit at the same time, we baked biscuits on the side and turned the evening into a really cosy team event.
The thought of 30 children receiving a lovingly designed and personalised gift box this year is the spirit of Christmas for all of us: Making someone else happy!
Thanks to our outdoor coworking events, team outings, WoooDays and shared breakfast and lunch breaks in the office, we love a little German Brotzeit. For this reason, the organisation ‘brotZeit e.V.’ immediately caught our attention during our research and spoke to us from the heart with its mission.
Many children come to school hungry for a variety of reasons. This initiative was set up to counteract this and to enable children from socially or economically difficult family backgrounds to start the school day with a meal. Thanks to donations and sponsors and with the help of dedicated senior citizens, children now have the opportunity to receive a free school breakfast before starting school at 400 primary and special schools in Germany. The senior citizens not only coordinate and support the school breakfast, but also act as contact persons for the children and give them a lot of attention as well as their time. For the children, the school day begins with a harmonious breakfast in a loving atmosphere, which not only promotes integration and equality, but should actually be part of everyday life for all children. Thank you for this initiative!
We are delighted that we can make a small contribution this year with our donation to enable even more children to have breakfast at school!
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year!
